Some pointers to bear in mind if you want to open an online store.
Technically
We need a CMS driven online store, as Prestashop, Hikashop, Virtuemart, Magento ... This will allow CMS to more easily manage the shop. It will also choose a payment platform next to the traditional check or wire transfer. Two solutions are the most common, and the payment by credit card via Paypal / Visa. All CMS-shops do not support all payment systems, to check.
If the store is important there should be appropriate accommodation
Operation
Attention, an online store is not just a store ... It's a real work:
- must supply the shop, inventory management
- create / update the product info (descriptions, images ...)
- have a catalog with categories and references
- manage payments, billing
- implement promotions
manage the port, shipping - provide assistance to the control and use of products
- billing, accounting

If there's customer file, there CNIL.
Terms and conditions (GTC) are required.
An online store reproduced (except commercial) operating a physical store. So it's a real investment.
